A Napier man has pleaded guilty to a charge of carelessly using a firearm causing the death of his daughter's boyfriend, who died in a hunting tragedy between Napier and Taupo almost three months ago.

Garth John Porter, 53, self-employed, appeared yesterday in Napier District Court, as a result of the death of 18-year-old former Taradale High School student Aron Timms near Tarawera on the morning of March 15.
